Mindy Lawton, an Orlando, Fla., waitress, goes on record in the Vanity Fair Tiger Woods story with a real bombshell. Tiger apparently put Lawton in contact with Mark Steinberg, his agent, when the National Enquirer sniffed out the Lawton/Woods affair, according to ESPN. Tiger still maintains that “If more people would have known in my inner circle, they would have stopped it or tried to put a stop to it.” If stopping it means that Tiger’s people made a deal with the Enquirer to purchase off silence and an interview for Men’s Fitness, who happens to be their sister publication, as Lawton says happened, then yes,Tiger’s people put a stop to it.

Men’s Fitness denies any special arrangements as Lawton claims though they did give an interview to Woods in August 2007. Yet ESPN points out that “a former Men’s Fitness editor-in-chief told the New York Post in December that the cover story was in exchange for silence regarding any affairs.” What is Steinberg saying about all of this? Little has been said to ESPN or Vanity Fair-and Bryon Bell, Tiger’s buddy, who arranged travel to another mistress, Jamie Jungers, could play with tiger- is also mum.
