Chrysler cans 13 staff scandal

Chrysler was involved in a recent scandal by some workers from a plant. A local whistleblower report caught some plant workers linked to some questionable . Numerous Chrysler Motors plant employees were captured drinking and using illegal drugs during their lunch break close to the plant. The actions were brought to light when a news station in Detroit was tipped off and investigated the activities in question. After the men were caught, a scandal started to brew, which Chrysler Motors swore to resolve. All parties involved were placed on suspension instantly. Days later, it appears to be resolved. Chrysler fired 13, and 2 more remain on suspension.

Guzzling more than gas

A tip about workers from the Jefferson North plant was passed to WJBK, or Fox 2, a Fox affiliate in Detroit as outlined by USA Today. . The station was tipped off that workers from the plant would go to a local park to drink beer and smoke what appeared to be cannabis. The ritual went on for five consecutive days, until an anchor asked them what the heck they were doing. At that point, the men fled back to the plant. The President of the United States personally visited that really plant just days before the report came out, which makes it all the more embarrassing.

Chrysler Motors couldn’t fire any person at first, so 15 were put on suspension. Due to agreements made between Chrysler and the United Auto Workers, correct procedure has to be dismissed before anybody could be terminated. Of those 15, according to Automotive News, 13 were fired and 2 are still on suspension. Chrysler also stated that quality control of builds is automated, and could not be compromised. The UAW also weighed in, saying the staff that were dismissed are a horrible exception. The UAW insists that their people are the top in the field, apart from the rotten apples.

Not even brewery workers be able to drink at work

The era of the “three martini lunch” is over. Working with industrial equipment demands safety be paramount. Drinking and taking other illegal intoxicants is certainly contrary to safe practices.
